The gospel is the hope of the world. As we read the Scriptures, we see the overarching themes of God’s providence, power and provision to reconcile mankind and the created world to Himself through the Person and work of Jesus Christ. In light of this, we aim to be explicitly gospel-centered in all that we preach, teach and practice.
We believe…
- The Scriptures contained in the Bible are true, breathed-out by God, inerrant, infallible, authoritative, sufficient, and the road map for our lives (Psalm 19:7-11, 119:105, 160; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
- There is only one true God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, who eternally exists in three distinct Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 45:6-7, 110:1; Isaiah 45:5-6, 46:9-10; Matthew 3:13-17, 28:17-20; John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6, 12:4-6; 1 Timothy 2:5).
- All things exist for the glory of God (Psalm 148; Proverbs 16:4; Romans 11:36-12:2; 1 Corinthians 10:31; 2 Corinthians 5:15; Ephesians 1:3-14).
- All humanity, Christ excluded, is sinful by both birth and action (Genesis 6:5; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:23, 5:8, 5:12-21, 7:18; Ephesians 2:1-3).
- The deserved penalty for sin is physical and spiritual death (Genesis 2:15-17, 3:19; Romans 5:12, 6:23; James 1:14-15).
- Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, is fully God, was born of a virgin and was fully human, and lived a totally sinless life (Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 2:52; John 1:1-4, 14; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-3).
- Jesus Christ died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin (John 1:29, 10:1-18; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 1:4; 1 Peter 3:18).
- Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead, ascended into Heaven and will one day physically return (Matthew 28:1-20; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-53; John 14:3, 20:1-21:25; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:12-34; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Hebrews 9:28; 1 John 3:2; Revelation 1:7).
- There will be a future physical resurrection of the dead. Only those who turn from sin and to Jesus in faith and repentance before dying and leaving Earth will be raised to eternal life with God in Heaven. Those who do not turn from sin and to Jesus will be raised to eternal punishment in hell (Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:28-29, 11:25-26; Acts 24:15).
- Without a genuine, authentic and personal belief in Jesus, we are hopelessly lost. It is only through faith in the Person and work of Jesus Christ and repentance from sin that one can be reconciled to God and experience true forgiveness, joy and eternal life (John 3:16-18, 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:21-26, 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Timothy 2:5-6).
- Baptism does not contribute to anyone’s salvation. After someone has already come to faith in Jesus Christ, it is then appropriate and an act of obedience for Christ followers to identify with Jesus’ life, death, burial and resurrection through water baptism by immersion (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:36-41, 16:30-34, 18:8).
- A believing parent (or parents) may bring their children before the congregation as a way of dedicating them to the Lord and as a promise before our Faith Family to train them in the way they should go so when they are grown they will not turn from that way, and to teach them the ways of the Lord (1 Samuel 1:27-28; Proverbs 22:6; Matthew 19:13-15).
- The Communion celebration is open to all true believers who have been saved by faith in the work and ministry of Jesus Christ. When the wafer and the grape juice (which are representations of His body and blood) are shared with His followers, it is a remembrance with thanksgiving of all that Jesus is, all that He taught, all that He did during His earthly life here, and all He continues to do for His bride, the Church. (Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32).
- The Church and its members have been called to spread the Gospel to those who have yet to respond to it, and to assist in making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20).
- Since all believers receive the Holy Spirit at the time of their spiritual rebirth, all believers can live with passion and purpose for God as we listen to and allow the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us in our service to Him (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22-26).
- The Family of God is made up of many colors and cultures (Acts 2:21, 39; Romans 10:11-13; 1 Timothy 2:3-4).
