We Are Unique
“A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.” — Carl Reiner
I’m about to eat lunch, it’s 11:45 a.m. Feb. 19, and guess what? It’s snowing again! It’s really coming down. As my soup is warming on the stove and I stare out my office window, I am thinking, “Really?” I can relate to the above quote by Carl Reiner.
But then I remember something that I have heard before — that snowflakes can never be identical to one another, that they are unique, that each one is special. So my curiosity got the best of me, and I went to Yahoo for an answer. This is what I found: “It is indeed extremely unlikely that two complex snowflakes will look exactly alike. It’s so extremely unlikely, in fact, that even if you looked at every one ever made, you would not find any exact duplicates.”
I think of something else God made unique: us. You and me. None of us are the same. We are God’s masterpiece.
Jeremiah 1:5 reads, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Some people would say that this scripture was for only Jeremiah, but I beg to differ.
In Ephesians 1:4, Paul writes, “Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.” He loved us and chose us; that’s incredible.
So the next time you don’t think that you matter in the grand scheme of things or that you’re insignificant, open up the living Word of God and see what He says about you.
I love this quote: “You weren’t an accident. You weren’t mass produced. You aren’t an assembly line product. You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on the Earth by the Master Craftsman,” Unknown.
I think from now on, I will look at snowflakes a little differently!
Love you all, Pastor Dave and Missy
