Moving Forward the Work of God by Meeting Needs, Mending Hurts, Molding Lives

Waters Will Flow

“William Booth once had an audience with King Edward VII of England. His Majesty highly commended the salvationist for his unflagging zeal and wonderful work among the poor. How revealing was Booth’s reply to the King’s glowing words! He said, ‘Your Majesty, some men’s passion is for art. Some men’s passion is for fame. My passion is for souls.’ “

John 3:16-17 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”

No matter what situation I find myself in, these verses always reminds me of the love of God. It gives me focus; it sets my course again in the right direction — true north to Jesus Christ.

As a Christ Follower, I need God’s love to flow through me so others can see the Father’s heart in me. So that through Him, I can bring hope and life to others by Him who lives in me. This is God’s plan for each one of us. It’s His desire, His ultimate purpose.

In the Gospel of John 7:38, Jesus speaks these words, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

The word “believe” means, in the Greek, to trust fully and to make a commitment to Christ as Lord and Savior, which will result in receiving a new nature that produces a change in heart and obedience to the Lord. We see that once we believe, it is God’s desire that “rivers of living waters will flow from within them.” We become a vessel to pour out to others. God has placed His spirit in us so we might bring life and refreshing to others by Him.

So my question to you today is: Do you believe, trust fully, and are you willing to make a commitment to the one and only God and Savior?

You see, one day we will all stand before the judgment throne of God. Don’t let this pass you by — this is a real day that is coming. The Apostle Paul spells it out so clear in Romans 14:11, “For it is written, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.’ ”

Some day we will all have to bow and confess with our mouths that He is Lord. Some of us already have made this proclamation. Have you?

My brothers and sisters in Christ, I urge you to allow Christ to use you as His vessel. Commit to Him, trust Him and allow the new life that He has given you through His supreme sacrifice to pour out to others.

We must remember that God’s heart is shown to us in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

His heart is a heart of patience, not wanting anyone to perish, and He wants to use you as that vessel to reach out to those who might perish. So set your course to TRUE NORTH and be used of Him.
